A little bit about me
I’ve been writing code under the name Solvent Web since 2009, but I didn’t take a traditional path to web development. I’ve always loved trees, and I pursued that passion by obtaining my bachelor’s degree in ornamental horticulture from Iowa State University. My first job out of college was working at a local garden center. While there, I inherited the job of maintaining the company’s website. It was then that I discovered another passion of mine: web development.
Since that time, I’ve moved on from simple HTML websites. Now I primarily work with popular CMS and ecommerce platforms. And I particularly enjoy building custom multi-user web applications for small businesses. I still love trees though, and I enthusiastically pursue gardening as a hobby along with my wife.
Why I love what I do
There’s a lot to love about web programming! In particular, I enjoy problem solving. All of my clients have unique circumstances and objectives. My job is to listen carefully to each of my clients so that I can help them define and meet their goals. This is a challenge that I really enjoy, but it definitely keeps me on my toes! I have to stay abreast of current technologies and trends. And my creativity and resourcefulness are tested on a daily basis.
However, the most important and enjoyable aspect to my job is building relationships with my customers. I’m always happy to invest in good communication. So feel free to connect with me. Even if you don’t have a specific project in mind right now, I’m a friendly guy, and I’d be happy to hear from you.
